Chapter 1 - The Battle of Sarah

Sarah's adventure started off as a modest blog. She shared stories of her struggles, triumphs, and dreams while writing about her own life experiences. The early going was difficult. She frequently felt discouraged because so few people read her blog. However, she recalled something her grandmother had said to the effect of "Every great writer starts with just one reader."

Sarah typed her first blog entry while seated at her tiny desk with her hands poised over the computer. It was a straightforward tale about a happy childhood memory that had always brought her solace under trying circumstances. With shaky hands, she hit "Publish," unsure if anyone would ever read her remarks amid the immense amount of online content.

Weeks passed, and Sarah continued to write diligently. She talked of her family, her attempts to express herself, and the small pleasures that life brought her. However, the readership of her blog remained abysmally low. She began to doubt whether her desire of motivating others was simply a fantasy.

Sarah, though, resisted giving up. Every writer has obstacles to overcome, and she was determined to do the same. She combed the internet in search of writing and blogging suggestions. She spent early mornings and late evenings honing her craft.

The people that backed Sarah the most were her close friends and family. They urged her to persevere by assuring her that Rome wasn't created overnight. Sarah's favorite J.K. Rowling quotation—"It does not do to dwell on dreams and forget to live"—became her guiding principle.

Even though every day was difficult, Sarah never lost faith in the strength of her words. She recalled how her books had provided her with solace through trying times, and she hoped that one day her blog would do the same for someone else.

Sarah knew the road ahead would be long and difficult, but she also knew that her narrative was just getting started as the sun set on Day 1 of her adventure. She persisted in writing, one word at a time, with tenacity and a glimmer of hope in her heart that one day her words will change something.

Watch for Day 2 of Sarah's trip, when we'll learn what happened to cause her life to shift drastically.
